Much of Revel’s music is thought to be influenced by her first nights on the streets. Only eight years old when she was orphaned, Revel could not fully process her mother’s suicide… When the Angels finally discovered her, the state of things suggested she’d been trying to live in complete denial for several days–if not weeks. Revel claimed her mother used to sing to her every night to help her feel safe and that in her absence, she had no choice but to take up the role… lucky for her, someone else was listening to her that night.
Going into adulthood, Revel began to come to terms with her past by blaming the corporations for her mom’s misfortune. While her earliest songs are near allegories for her traumatic experiences, her later albums became more of a threat/promise for revenge…
